Civil groups call for stronger Finnish stance on human rights and international law. A coalition of Finnish civil society organizations is urging the government to take concrete steps to help stop what they describe as a genocide in Gaza and to support Palestinian rights.
In a public statement, the Finnish-Arab Friendship Society and other groups call for Finland to press for an immediate ceasefire, end arms trade with Israel, recognize Palestine as a state, and support international legal action over alleged war crimes.
The appeal matters because it challenges Finland to live up to its long-standing image as a defender of peace, justice, and human rights. Supporters argue that silence or inaction risks weakening Finland’s credibility in global human rights discussions.
The organizations emphasize that Finland has both a moral and legal duty to act in line with international law and the UN Charter, calling for solidarity with the Palestinian people until lasting peace and justice are achieved.
