Unlock the power of local governance! Our network member, the Hague Academy for Local Governance, is inviting public officials, finance experts, and development practitioners to the Fiscal Decentralisation and Local Finance course, running from 10–21 November 2025 in The Hague, Netherlands.
This dynamic course explores how giving local governments control over finances strengthens their ability to respond to citizens’ needs. Participants will dive into revenue generation, intergovernmental transfers, participatory budgeting, local taxation, and financial accountability, while learning from international best practices. The programme includes study visits to The Hague municipality, provincial government, and the Ministry of Interior, offering hands-on insights into effective local governance.
The course aims to equip professionals with practical tools and knowledge to design inclusive, gender-responsive, and transparent budgeting processes, enhancing the impact of fiscal decentralisation in their own countries. Experts from the World Bank, UNCDF, and VNG International will guide participants through interactive sessions and group discussions.
Participants will leave with a professional certificate and actionable strategies to strengthen local financial management and service delivery.
