The project “Green Skills for First Responders: Environmentally Inclusive Low-Carbon Disaster
Management” by Go Green, together with ESDP: Escuela Española de Salvamento y Detección
con Perros and AFAD: İl Afet ve Acil Durum Müdürlüğü, was aimed at educating first
responders through the development of green skills that would help them effectively manage
disaster situations.
The project was implemented through lectures and fieldwork. Its main objective was to
demonstrate how participants can properly handle toxic materials, reduce water and energy
consumption, and carry out appropriate clean-up activities after major disasters or natural
hazards such as earthquakes. In this way, sustainability was connected with essential life-
saving skills.
A demonstration was also conducted on how to rescue a person trapped under rubble following
a major earthquake. Activities included discussions based on hypothetical scenarios and visits
to two local organizations that demonstrated how to act both as a bystander and as a victim in a

crisis situation. Among other things, we visited the Crisis Management Center (CMC) and the
Red Cross of Macedonia, where we established valuable contacts for future cooperation.
