Helsinki to Host Event on Women’s Forced Migration

A special event titled “The Reality of Forced Migration Through Women’s Testimonies” will take place on October 28, 2025, at Lapinlahdenpolku 8, Helsinki, bringing together women’s voices, experts, and a documentary screening to shed light on the challenges of displacement and resilience.

Organized by Together Finland, MIELI Without Borders, and several partner organizations, the event will include a panel discussion and a screening of the award-winning documentary Metamorphosis: Women’s Resilience to Oppression in Turkey, directed by Aslihan Kas (USA).

The guest of honor and opening speaker will be Nasima Razmyar, Member of Parliament and Vice Chair of the SDP, known for her advocacy for women’s rights and equality.

Panelists include:

  • Silvra Farik, Finnish Refugee of the Year 2018

  • Tadija Maynul, Public Health Nurse at Mieli Without Borders

  • Amal Al-Mehsien, Human Rights Specialist and Writer

  • Marisel Soto Godoy, Head of Integration at Kotoutumiskeskus Monika

The discussion will be moderated by journalist Zahra Karimy.

The event aims to highlight women’s experiences of forced migration, trauma, and resilience, while fostering dialogue about mental health, integration, and solidarity.
