IMZ Academy Workshop 2026: LIVE MULTI-CAMERA DIRECTING OF OPERA PERFORMANCES

The IMZ Academy Workshop 2026, organised in partnership with the Royal College of Music in London, offers an intensive and practice-oriented training opportunity for directors, filmmakers, and members of digital and production teams working across opera, broadcast media, and the performing arts. Set within one of the world’s most innovative conservatoires, participants will engage directly with live opera production by directing segments of newly created works performed by RCM students in the Britten Theatre. Under the guidance of an internationally experienced faculty of directors and television professionals, the workshop provides comprehensive insight into the artistic and technical dimensions of multi-camera directing—from scripting with musical scores and understanding visual grammar, to mastering gallery techniques and collaborating effectively with stage directors and creative teams. Supported by the RCM’s state-of-the-art equipment and media infrastructure, the programme combines hands-on experience with expert feedback, equipping participants with the skills needed to navigate and excel in the dynamic field of opera and music performance capture.
