Intercultural-AILS Launches Its 2026 Plan

Thematic area: Democracy and community development

Language: English

2026 Portugal

Intercultural-AILS (Associação Intercultural Luso-Saotomense), a grassroots member of the ALF Network in Portugal, is implementing its 2026 activity plan focused on defending migrants’ rights, supporting integration, and strengthening intercultural education.

The plan proposes practical support for regularisation and access to services such as housing, work and health, alongside community dialogues on recent changes to the “new foreigners law”. It also includes actions to promote integration through Portuguese as a host language courses (including in Bombarral) and direct orientation/mediation for migrants and their families.

Within the cultural and human rights axis, Intercultural-AILS plans to celebrate its 20th anniversary on the African and São Toméan dates, and organise “Olhares Em Trânsito”, an annual two-day Migrant Cinema showcase with intercultural dialogue and critical reflection on diversity and inclusion.
