Ivan Vazov – 2014 Community Centre organised a series of family-focused activities in July and August addressing accessible summer childcare, parents’ rights and access to information, and the prevention of domestic violence.

On 9 July, the Centre held a family round table on “Accessible Summer Childcare”, based on a survey of 60 parents. The results showed that 7 out of 10 parents face serious or rather serious difficulties with childcare during the summer holidays, while 98.3% believe that Sofia Municipality should provide more accessible childcare options. Participants discussed practical solutions, including more places, flexible registration, better information and the use of schools, libraries, sports facilities, parks and community centres.

On 13 August, an online round table addressed parents’ rights and reporting options, while the Centre also submitted a position statement to the National Council for Prevention and Protection against Domestic Violence.
