From October 6-10, in Prespa region at Carev Dvor, 21 young people aged 18 to 30 gathered for the National Climate Justice Camp RISE – Resist, Inspire, Speak, Empower. Students, activists, and future leaders came together with a shared mission: to learn, debate, and develop solutions for climate justice. Over five inspiring days, participants engaged in lectures, interactive workshops, and discussions led by environmental and sustainable development experts.Workshops covered climate justice, advocacy, and local mobilization strategies, offering hands-on experience in driving change. The camp was organized in collaboration with key partners, including the Center for Climate Change (CCC) and the Center for Green Policy in Belgrade, Serbia.
The experience was beyond beautiful.Participants visited marginalized communities affected by climate change and explored cultural landmarks in Resen, gaining a deeper understanding of the local community’s connection to nature and sustainable development. A highlight was the visit to Ana Labor’s farm from Spirit of Prespa, where participants heard inspiring stories about apple harvesting from Ana and her mother. Another memorable session took place on the shores of Lake Prespa, near the village of Stenje, where participants witnessed firsthand the effects of climate change and the potential risks of its complete withdrawal and contamination.
