LASAL organizes the Mediterranean Festival of Journalism and Photography, taking place from 11 to 13 June in El Masnou, near Barcelona. The festival will open on 11 June at 19:30 at La Calandria, convening journalists, photographers, documentary makers, students, and the wider public.
The programme features talks, debates, book presentations, open-air exhibitions, and photographic screenings held in accessible public spaces, including the beach of Ocata. Designed as an inclusive cultural platform, LASAL encourages dialogue between professionals and citizens while showcasing diverse narratives from across the Mediterranean.
The festival is rooted in the broader context of rising disinformation, threats to press freedom, and democratic challenges affecting the Euro-Mediterranean region. Its objective is to promote independent journalism and documentary photography as essential tools for fostering informed societies, intercultural dialogue, and mutual understanding across borders.
Open to all audiences, LASAL offers participants the opportunity to engage with leading voices in media and visual storytelling, while reflecting on shared regional challenges and perspectives. By bridging local and international communities, the festival aims to position itself as an emerging reference point for journalism and cultural exchange in the Mediterranean.
