“Magic of the Frame – Teach with documentary film!” is an Erasmus+ project that promotes the use of documentary films as an educational tool in secondary schools.
Goal: To help teachers engage students with real-life social issues while strengthening critical thinking, empathy, and discussion skills.
Partners: The project brings together organizations from Hungary, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and Bulgaria. It is also a strong example of cooperation between Lithuanian and Hungarian Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) networks.
Approach: Students explore social topics by watching documentaries, followed by guided discussions, reflection, and interactive activities that connect learning with real-world experiences.
Results: The project develops practical resources for educators, including lesson plans, a pedagogical guide, and teacher training materials.
Key idea: Documentary films are only the starting point—the deepest learning happens through dialogue, reflection, and engagement.
The project also emphasizes non-formal education methods, encouraging active student participation and experiential learning. By combining audiovisual storytelling with guided reflection, it helps young people better understand complex social realities, challenge stereotypes, and develop intercultural awareness. Teachers are supported in creating inclusive, engaging, and socially relevant learning environments.
