On June 19–20, 2026, a training course for aspiring volunteer mentors of young migrants will take place in Genoa at Spazio TuttoMondo (Piazza Don Gallo 5–7). The initiative aims to recruit and prepare citizens willing to support unaccompanied young people from around the world in their path toward autonomy and social inclusion.

It is organised as an interactive and workshop-based training experience, promoted within a framework of civic engagement and solidarity.

The course addresses key themes such as human rights as a multidisciplinary framework, migration with a focus on the individual, vulnerabilities and transitions into adulthood, and active citizenship as a tool to build meaningful and supportive relationships with young migrants. It is promoted by Defence for Children Italia, which trains and accompanies volunteers in their mentoring role.

The mentoring programme pairs trained citizens with newly adult migrants to support them in navigating everyday life in Italy, including housing, work, healthcare, and social relationships. The role of a mentor is to provide guidance, presence, and practical support, helping young people build independence in a new and often unfamiliar environment.

Participation is open to citizens who wish to dedicate part of their time to meaningful social impact through voluntary mentoring.
