National Discussion Forum in Jordan: Local Administration Hackathon
On the 4th of August 2025, as a new step toward strengthening the partnership between local communities, municipalities, and state institutions, Al-Hayat Center – RASED, one of the Jordanian network members; under the patronage of the Minister of Local Administration, launched the National Discussion Forum: Local Administration Hackathon. This forum brought together heads of municipal committees, executive directors, municipal employees, former council members, and activists from various northern governorates in an unconventional effort to redesign the features of local governance from the ground up.
The hackathon, which is part of the Project "Nazaha: EU Support to Social Accountability and Empowering Civil Society for Better Governance", co-funded by the European Union and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and implemented by Al-Hayat Center – RASED, was not merely a discussion forum. It served as a national platform for developing collaborative solutions that reflect field realities and draw upon the practical experience of those working in local administration.
The hackathon’s outcomes will form an operational and legislative roadmap to be presented to key stakeholders as part of the ongoing process of modernizing and reforming local administration.
