Organization for Aid to Refugees presents: Slam Poetry – Your Voice

Czech ALF Member Organization for Aid to Refugees (OPU) is launching Slam Poetry – Your Voice, a new initiative aimed at empowering young individuals aged 16 to 24 from non-EU countries currently residing in Czechia. The program offers a unique opportunity for self-expression, creativity, and personal development through the art of slam poetry.

Titled Slam Poetry – Your Voice, the course combines elements of poetry, theatre, prose, and art therapy to create a safe space for artistic dialogue and self-discovery. The goal is to nurture creativity, encourage confidence, and build communication skills that are transferable to many aspects of life – including school presentations, job interviews, public speaking, and everyday interpersonal situations.

Participants will be guided in:

  • Creative writing techniques

  • Overcoming stage fright and pressure

  • Enhancing rhetoric and improvisational abilities

  • Discovering and shaping their personal poetic voice

  • Formulating opinions and expressing them freely and confidently

The course will be led by experienced slammers: Tim Postovit, Honza Dibitanzl, Hanka Nguyen, and Sufian Massalema – all of whom bring extensive backgrounds in slam poetry, writing, and public performance. Additional guest lecturers will contribute their unique perspectives and creative approaches.

Sessions will take place bi-weekly at the Skautský institut (Scout Institute) located at Old Town Square in the heart of Prague, and will continue until the end of 2025. The exact meeting day will be determined in consultation with registered participants.

No previous experience in writing or public performance is required, and the entire course is offered free of charge.
