World Table Tennis Day 2026 was marked in Tirana with an activity focused on health, wellbeing, and family interaction through sport. The event, titled “Pause. Play. Parent.”, was organized through the collaboration of ITTF Foundation, Spinsight, Parks and Recreation Agency in Tirana and Center for Education and Social Advancement (CESA).

Initially designed as an activity for parents, the event developed into a broader intergenerational gathering, with participants ranging from infants to older adults. Through table tennis, families and individuals engaged in a shared space that encouraged movement and social connection.

What the initiative aimed to highlight was the role of simple, accessible activities in supporting mental and physical wellbeing. Beyond the sport itself, the event created an opportunity for participants to step away from daily routines and spend time together in a low-pressure environment.

Feedback from attending parents pointed to a wider need for more public spaces and activities that are affordable and oriented toward family wellbeing and social connection.

World Table Tennis Day, celebrated globally since 2015, promotes the idea of sport as a tool for inclusion and community building. The Tirana event reflected these principles, showing how a single, low-barrier activity can contribute to overall wellbeing.
