Last week, our event, "Preserving Heritage in Egypt, Czechia and Beyond," highlighted the vital importance of caring for our shared cultural heritage. The centerpiece was a captivating masterclass delivered by brothers Miroslav and Ivan Houska.

In the late 1960s, the Houska brothers honed their skills in traditional crafts at Cairo's renowned Khan el-Khalili market. Today, they boast hundreds of successful restoration projects across Czechia and the Arab world, including numerous UNESCO sites. Their expertise and dedication are truly inspiring!

Beyond the invaluable knowledge shared, this gathering fostered meaningful dialogue. We were delighted to welcome representatives from civil society and organizations within the Egyptian Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation, who seized the opportunity to connect and exchange ideas. The conversation was made even more significant by the presence of Miroslav Houska, who also serves as president of the Czech-Arab Society, a Czech ALF Member (just like the Česká centra/Czech Centres network). This connection promises vast potential for future cooperation.

This occasion not only served as a powerful reminder of our historical ties but also underscored the immense power of cultural heritage as a foundation for understanding in today's complex world.

في الأسبوع الماضي، أبرز حدثنا الذي حمل عنوان "الحفاظ على التراث في مصر والتشيك وخارجها" الأهمية الحيوية للعناية بتراثنا الثقافي المشترك. وكان المحور الأساسي ورشة عمل آسرة قدمها الأخوان ميروسلاف وإيفان هاوسكا.

في أواخر الستينيات، صقل الأخوان هاوسكا مهاراتهما في الحرف التقليدية بسوق خان الخليلي الشهير بالقاهرة. واليوم، يفتخران بمئات مشاريع الترميم الناجحة في جميع أنحاء التشيك والعالم العربي، بما في ذلك العديد من مواقع اليونسكو. إن خبرتهما وتفانيهما ملهمان حقاً!

بعيداً عن المعرفة القيمة التي تم تبادلها، عزز هذا التجمع حواراً هادفاً. وقد سررنا بالترحيب بممثلين عن المجتمع المدني والمنظمات ضمن الشبكة المصرية لمؤسسة آنا ليند، الذين اغتنموا الفرصة للتواصل وتبادل الأفكار. وقد أصبحت المحادثة أكثر أهمية بفضل حضور ميروسلاف هاوسكا، الذي يشغل أيضاً منصب رئيس الجمعية التشيكية العربية، وعضو في مؤسسة آنا ليند التشيكية (تماماً مثل شبكة المراكز التشيكية/Česká centra). يعد هذا الارتباط بوعود كبيرة للتعاون المستقبلي.

لم تكن هذه المناسبة مجرد تذكير بالعلاقات التاريخية فحسب، بل أكدت أيضاً على القوة الهائلة للتراث الثقافي كأساس للتفاهم في عالم اليوم المعقد
