FLAGSHIP PROGRAMMES
The Albanian Media Institute is one of the partners involved in “Our Media: A Civil Society Action to Generate Media Literacy and Activism, Counter Polarisation and Promote Dialogue”, a three-year project funded by the European Union.
The goal of the project is to improve the understanding of challenges related to media freedom, media development, and media sustainability in the region. It focuses on strengthening the capacities of civil society organizations, media professionals, young activists, and citizens.
As part of the project, 200 representatives from civil society organizations across the region will be trained to develop and apply media and information literacy (MIL) practices. In addition, at least 18 CSOs based in both urban and rural areas will receive direct support to work with local communities on MIL-related initiatives. The project will also involve 70 media professionals and representatives of self-regulatory bodies in activities focused on strengthening ethical standards and self-regulation in journalism.
Through these activities, the project aims to contribute to a more informed, inclusive, and resilient media environment across the Western Balkans and Turkey.
The regional program “Our Media: A civil society action to generate media literacy and activism, counter polarisation and promote dialogue” is implemented with the financial support of the European Union by partner organizations SEENPM, Albanian Media Institute, Mediacentar Sarajevo, Press Council of Kosovo, Montenegrin Media Institute, Macedonian Institute for Media, Novi Sad School of Journalism, Peace Institute and Bianet.
