Rural Voices 2030 is a European project that empowers young people in rural areas to actively contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially gender equality (SDG 5) and land protection (SDG 15). The project is implemented by a consortium of European and international partners, led by Hungarian Baptist Aid, including organisations from Bulgaria, Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, and others.
The initiative promotes Global Citizenship Education in rural communities by combining non-formal learning, community engagement, and gender-sensitive approaches. It focuses on key issues such as soil degradation and its connection to social inequality, particularly the limited role of women in land-related decision-making.
Activities include interviews with rural communities, collection of case studies and best practices, creation of educational and media materials, training courses, dialogue events, and networking opportunities for youth and educators. The project also supports local organisations through sub-grants and advocacy activities targeting national and EU-level policymakers.
Through these actions, Rural Voices 2030 aims to strengthen rural communities, promote sustainability, and empower young people to become active global citizens driving positive change.
