Slam Poetry as a Tool for Youth Empowerment

Thematic area: Youth and education

Language: English

27 November 2025, Kampus Hybernská – Prague, Czechia

On 27 November, the final public performance of the Slam Poetry – Your Voice course took place at Kampus Hybernská in Prague. The activity was organised and implemented by the Organization for Aid to Refugees (OPU), an grassroots member of the Anna Lindh Foundation Czech network. Participants of the five-month programme presented their original slam poems to a wider audience for the first time, accompanied by the full team of course mentors. The event filled the venue and created an intense and memorable atmosphere, shaped by performances that were the result of long-term collective work and careful artistic guidance. The texts and performances were powerful, courageous, joyful, and deeply personal.

The audience also included representatives of partner organisations from Germany, Hungary, and Poland, who were visiting Prague as part of an international meeting organised alongside the course. Slam Poetry – Your Voice formed an integral part of this broader programme, allowing artistic practice to intersect with international exchange.

The evening successfully connected people and initiatives from across Central Europe—from Warsaw through Budapest to Cologne—who share a common goal: empowering young people through community-building, creativity, and mutual support.
