Join an online panel discussion from the Accession Lab of the College of Europe Tirana Campus, organized by the International Institute for Peace together with oiip and Renner Institut to let the young voices of the Western Balkans be heard more clearly.
Last year marked the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement. Three decades of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Three decades since the first genocide on European soil since the Second World War, and the longest siege of a city in modern history.
More than 30 years later, Bosnia and Herzegovina is an EU candidate country. Many obstacles remain on its path, but this makes it all the more urgent to revisit the Dayton Peace Agreement. How was it created? What were its original aims, and how does it function today? And what role has the European Union played, not only in Dayton itself, but in shaping Bosnia and Herzegovina’s post-war political and European trajectory?
There will be a brief explanation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, after this the panelists will have around 40 minutes to discuss some of the leading questions about this topic followed by questions from the audience.
