Artificial Intelligence in Practice: Key takeaways from the recent webinar

On March 3, 2025, the Czech ALF Network and the Institute of International Relations hosted an advanced training webinar titled “Artificial Intelligence in Practice: How to Make the Most of AI Tools”, led by Radim Petlach, an expert on AI. The session aimed to provide practical insights into cutting-edge AI applications, rather than serving as an introductory overview.

Participation and Structure

The webinar gathered 18 participants from 13 organizations, including 12 ALF members and 1 non-member organization. The three-hour session was conducted via MS Teams, ensuring active engagement through discussions and real-time demonstrations.

Key AI Tools and Topics Covered (with Practical Demonstrations)

Participants explored a range of AI tools, focusing on their application in professional settings
• ChatGPT – Leveraging language models for text generation and automation
• Google AI Tools – Overview of Gemini, Notebook LM, and AI Studio
• Perplexity – Exploring mainly the Deep Research functionality (available within other tools as well)
• Canva AI – AI-powered visual content creation
• Gamma.app – AI-assisted presentation development

Discussion and Key Takeaways
• Practical real-world demonstrations showcased AI’s capabilities in streamlining workflows.
• Engaging discussions enriched the learning experience.
• Topics like GDPR compliance and copyright law, particularly in relation to AI-generated text and images, was also tackled.

A recurring theme in both evaluations and discussions was the need for a more in-depth exploration of AI’s ethical and legal implications. Given the time constraints, this aspect was only briefly covered. As a result, this has identified this as a priority for future follow-up sessions or an entirely new format, such as symposia or conferences, to facilitate a deeper conversation on AI’s role in intercultural dialogue. This webinar was a valuable step toward understanding AI’s potential, equipping ALF Members from the Czech network with hands-on experience and strategic insights to integrate AI effectively into their work.
