Youth Inclusion Network Spans Western Balkans

Thematic area: Youth and education

Language: English

Final international training and networking event: 6–12 June 2026, Serbia (20-month project across Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Kosovo).

"Not Neat to be NEET" (Not in Employment, Education, or Training) was a 20-month capacity-building initiative funded under the Erasmus+ Programme and implemented by five Western Balkan organisations: People's Parliament (Serbia), the Agency of Local Democracy (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Glas (Montenegro), the Center for Bridging Communities (Albania), and Drenas Youth Center (Kosovo). It aimed to strengthen youth organisations' capacity to design more inclusive projects and ensure the full participation of young people with fewer opportunities.

The project developed and tested a regional non-formal education methodology for training dedicated Inclusion Coordinators. Partners conducted a regional survey of 399 young people alongside focus groups and interviews with 93 youth workers and marginalised youth, producing five national publications mapping local barriers to inclusion. National Training Courses in Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo then engaged more than 86 prospective Inclusion Coordinators, introducing an innovative local job-shadowing model. The cycle culminated in the "Inclusion Coordinators Across Borders" network and a final international event in Serbia, which gathered 56 youth workers and educators.
