The Center for Peace Studies (CMS), as an organization that has been working for more than two decades to protect and promote the rights of refugees and other categories of foreigners and minorities in Croatia, periodically conducts research in order to create a basis for public policy proposals and quality communication with citizens on these issues. This study is also the result of efforts to provide key stakeholders and the interested public with insight into citizens' attitudes on these important social issues, but also to better understand the social phenomena we deal with. This study was created as part of the project ‛FRED – For equality and diversity, against racism’, which is funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values ​​Programme (CERV). The project is implemented by CMS as the project leader in cooperation with the Ombudsman, the Center for Peace, Non-violence and Human Rights Osijek and the Irish Network Against Racism (INAR).

The main goal of this study, which was conducted in mid-2024, was to investigate the attitudes of adult Croatian citizens towards foreigners and selected categories of minority social groups in Croatian society. An additional goal of the research was to determine whether and to what extent citizens' attitudes towards immigrants and minorities, as well as their attitudes towards various forms of cultural and ethnic diversity and particularities - indirectly, therefore, attitudes towards discrimination and xenophobia - have changed in a longitudinal perspective compared to 2013, when the first research was conducted, and 2017, when a second research of the same type was conducted.
