Abstracts of the Third Symposium on Gender Equality for an Inclusive University and Society
Abstract

This publication presents the proceedings of the Third Symposium on Gender Equality for an Inclusive University and Society, titled Bridges of Equality: Gender Equity and Inclusion in Academia and Society. The volume brings together a collection of abstracts addressing issues of gender equality, inclusion, and diversity within higher education institutions and broader society. It reflects ongoing academic and policy discussions on how to strengthen gender-sensitive approaches in institutional frameworks, organisational cultures, and social structures.

The contributions included in the publication explore different dimensions of gender equity in academia and public life. A central focus is placed on identifying structural barriers that affect equal participation and representation, particularly in higher education environments. The symposium highlights the importance of integrating gender perspectives into institutional policies, teaching practices, research environments, and governance systems.

In addition to academic discourse, the publication emphasises the practical implementation of gender equality principles through institutional strategies, awareness-raising activities, and inclusive practices. It underlines the role of universities and research organisations as key actors in promoting social change and advancing equality both within academia and in wider society.

The collection also addresses intersectional aspects of inclusion, recognising that gender inequalities often interact with other forms of disadvantage. By bringing together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, the symposium fosters dialogue on effective approaches to creating more equitable academic environments.

Overall, the publication contributes to the growing body of knowledge on gender equality by consolidating current research and policy perspectives. It aims to support the development of more inclusive universities and societies through shared knowledge, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the promotion of good practices in gender mainstreaming.
