FLAGSHIP PROGRAMMES
Until recently, Sweden was one of the most sought-after European destinations for immigrants, particularly those fleeing war and conflict. Its generous asylum policies and long-standing reputation for welcoming newcomers made it a haven for thousands seeking safety and dignity. In 2015 alone, Sweden received approximately 163,000 asylum seekers – the highest number in its modern history, according to government reports. Yet, over the past five years, a surprising trend has emerged: an increasing number of immigrants with Swedish citizenship, particularly from Arab countries, are leaving the Scandinavian welfare state. These individuals are returning to their countries of origin or pursuing opportunities elsewhere around the globe.
