THE ROAD TO INCLUSIVE NARRATIVES

Intercultural Literacy, Fighting Misinformation & Disinformation

In today’s information-rich world, where media and social networks shape our narratives, misinformation and disinformation have proven to be significant threats, leading to one-sided, dominating narratives that limit our ability to create inclusive stories and engage in meaningful dialogue. The Road to Inclusive Narratives is a multifaceted initiative that adopts a multi-stakeholder approach to address and counter mis/disinformation and promote inclusive resilient stories in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The project aims to increase public awareness of media literacy among young people, empower critical thinking to combat mis/disinformation, and promote digital citizenship while ensuring vulnerable groups have a stronger voice online.

Phases of Implementation

Phase One: Selection of the organisations

Several organisations from the ALF National Network experienced in tackling mis/disinformation, are selected to implement this pilot phase. These organisations will lead efforts in their local communities, using their existing expertise to address mis/disinformation and promote inclusive narratives.

Phase Two: Expertise and Manual Development

An expert in misinformation & disinformation and media literacy is hired to develop a comprehensive manual designed to transform knowledge into tangible products. The manual will provide actionable strategies and tools that organisations can use to fight mis/disinformation effectively. This manual is then shared with the selected organisations through a number of training sessions.

Phase Three: Knowledge Dissemination and Campaign Implementation

Each organisation will then implement a digital campaign, transforming the knowledge from the manual into engaging content for their local audiences, also providing a platform for minorities in their communities to share their stories on how misinformation & disinformation affected them.

Phase Four: Impact Assessment and Future Expansion

As this is a pilot phase, thorough assessment protocols and ongoing improvement processes will be implemented to evaluate the project’s impact. This evaluation will help identify areas for enhancement and potential for scalability. Based on the results, the project aims to expand its reach, making it available to all 43 Euro-Mediterranean countries in the future.
