AI in practice: Mapping the AI use in Czechia

Thematic area: Democracy and community development

Language: English

February – May 2026, Czechia

The Czech Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation, coordinated by the Institute of International Relations Prague, implemented the “AI in Practice” initiative in 2026 to explore how member organisations use and reflect on artificial intelligence in their everyday work.

The initiative combined a focus group held in February 2026 with a subsequent anonymous survey involving 31 respondents from Czech ALF member organisations. The survey examined current patterns of AI use, perceived benefits, barriers, ethical concerns and future capacity-building needs. The findings show that AI is already widely integrated into everyday organisational practice: nearly 87% of respondents use AI at least weekly, mainly for translation, text editing, brainstorming, information processing and routine administrative tasks. At the same time, respondents highlighted concerns related to accuracy, data protection, ethical implications and the need for clearer internal rules.

The initiative resulted in a Survey Report and a practical Guidance Note aimed at supporting responsible, effective and context-sensitive use of AI within civil society organisations and encouraging further exchange of good practices across the Czech ALF Network.

The full Survey Report and Guidance Note are available here.
